Toyota teases all-new Tacoma before Detroit debut | Victory Toyota Scion Seaside CA
Toyota Motor Corp. gave truck fans their first glimpse of the all-new 2016 Tacoma before its unveiling this month at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Japanese automaker released a teaser photo of the left rear end of the truck trekking through some mud. The design of the midsize pickup looks more aggressive than the current model, with more lines and a bolder “TACOMA” spread across the lower tailgate.
The Tacoma is a key product for Toyota in the U.S., with the pickup representing 70 percent of all small-truck sales in 2013.
Robert S. Carter, Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. senior vice president of automotive operations, told The Detroit News earlier this month that consumers should keep three things in mind when thinking about the truck. “Tacoma is more important than the sum of its sales,” he said. “It has very dominant imagery: rugged, tough, youthful.
“That’s what that truck represents.”
